Minister to adopt 1000 HIV+ve kids

This remark came during an event organised by the Karnataka State AIDS Control Society (KSAPS) to mark World AIDS Day.

Explaining the reason behind his intention, he said that he wanted HIV positive children to get mainstream education like other children and enjoy their childhood without any discrimination and stigma.  

KSAPS charter on rights of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIVs) and 11 information materials on basics of HIV preventions were unveiled on the occasion. Seven doctors and eight institutions from across the state were given awards for their exemplary work in treating PLHIVs.

State Health and Family Welfare department secretary Dr E V Ramana Reddy stated that cross reference facility for HIV and TB will be started in all hospitals, as HIV positive persons are prone to opportunistic infections.
