Last Updated 17 December 2018, 20:20 IST

JD(S) state secretary H N Krishne Gowda accused MLA M P Kumaraswamy of attempting to shift the sanctioned Ambedkar Residential School at Danihalli to other hoblis for political purpose.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said that the school was sanctioned to Danihalli by B B Ningaiah when he was the MLA. The tahsildar had earmarked 7.11 acres of land for the purpose. An amount of Rs 15 crore was also released for constructing the building. Unfortunately, now MLA M P Kumaraswamy is conspiring to shift the sanctioned school, he alleged.

The opening of the residential school will benefit the poor in Avathi hobli.

JD(S) SC/ST cell Mudigere taluk president Hunasemakki Lakshman said, "The residential school has already started functioning from a rented building on Bypass Road in Avathi. A total of 100 students are pursuing their studies. In such a scenario, the school should not be shifted."
