MP seeks action on illegal mining

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said the CEC report has directly held the state government responsible for the massive export of iron ore without proper permit costing the exchequer `  15,000 crore.

“The government and the people in the Cabinet are directly involved in the irregularity. The corruption has reached its peak in the state. It is time the government act against the culprits before the electorate act against them,” he said.

Ridiculing the statements of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to support Anna Hazare’s campaign against corruption and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy’s statement on Mahatma Gandhiji, he said : “Because all his family members are corrupt, a few politicians are making statements like Gandhi will also be corrupt if he was alive.”

Later, the MP took part in a programme, “Democracy and Corruption”, organised by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat on its premises near Chamarajendra circle.
The corruption and population explosion would engulf the whole country if it was allowed to thrive.

“The lawmakers themselves break the law in the country. India is in a crucial phase of development. It is time we nip the corruption in the bud,” he said.
He said the massive public support that poured in for Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption was a positive sign. Everyone should protest the corrupt to help country progress, he added.
