<p>Madikeri: Forest department has served notices to the people who have been protesting in Atturukolli reserve forest in Nagaragole tiger reserve in Kodagu.</p><p>Members of 52 Jenukuruba families have been holding a stir since May 5, urging the government to provide them with forest land rights.</p><p>Nagarahole wild life sub-divison Assistant Conservator of Forests said that the High Court has imposed a stay and has directed not to conduct any activities in Nagarahole tiger reserve till July 23.</p><p>Police prevented the people who were arriving to support the protest.</p><p>Cases have been lodged against several people for entering the reserve forest area from interior roads.</p><p>The protesters had allegedly set up a plastic tent on Wednesday night, which was removed by the forest department personnel and the police.</p><p>Nagarahole Adivasi Jammapale Hakku Sthapana Samiti secretary Shivu said that they justified putting up tents by stating that the tent was constructed for the women who were having their periods. Meanwhile, the people who are arriving to support the protest, too, are being sent away. </p><p>He alleged that the Jenukuruba families were 'forcibly evicted' from the forest by the government, despite the tribal community reserving its individual and community forest rights. "Our fight will continue", he added.</p><p>Meanwhile, Forest minister Eshwar Khandre has asked the Additional Principal Secretary to the department of Forest, Ecology and Environment department, to submit a report on the actions taken towards the implementation of the court orders.</p>
