A person from Ramdurg town in the district was booked for posting pro-Pakistan posts on a social media platform on Friday. The accused, Benne, however, claimed that his account has been hacked.

Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy informed that a complaint was received by the Ramdurg police on Friday stating that a person identified as Mohammad Shafi Benne, a resident of Ramdurg, had posted pro-Pakistan posts on his Facebook page. A case was registered against him under sections 124a, 153a and 153b of the Indian Penal Code.

Benne, who came to the police station voluntarily, claimed that his Facebook account has been hacked.

Police will investigate the case and action will be taken. Reddy said that investigation is being done professionally in consultation with domain and cybercrime experts.

Meanwhile, stones were pelted on a section of people who had been protesting before the police station demanding action against the accused. One person suffered injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.
