<p>Sandur (Ballari district): Nearly 2,100 chickens that were ferried from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to Sandur in Ballari district have died after contracting bird flu, confirmed officials of the Animal Husbandry Department.</p>.<p>Some chickens died at the transport centre, said the officials. “Around 20 to 30 birds were either dead or about to die at the centre. Almost daily, around 100 to 200 birds were dying. We sent samples of the dead chickens to the laboratory, and tests conducted there confirmed that they had died of bird flu,” officials said.</p>.Bird flu cases detected in Raichur, Chikkaballapur and Ballari districts of Karnataka.<p>Deputy Director of the department Vinod Kumar told <em>DH</em>, “The 2,100 birds died over one week. Of these, 1,100 died after we confirmed the cause of death as bird flu.
