<p>A delegation of JD(S) leaders will soon meet party supremo H D Deve Gowda urging him to announce the party candidate from JD(S) for the Virajpet Assembly constituency.<br /><br />Virajpet and Madikeri-Somwarpet are the two assembly constituencies in Kodagu district. As the candidature of B A Jeevijaya from Somwarpet-Madikeri is almost confirmed, JD(S) workers have decided to impress upon the party high command to announce the candidate for the Virajpet constituency. <br /><br />A delegation, headed by JD(S) Taluk Committee president Maneyapanda Belliappa, is expected to meet the high command and suggest announcing the candidate’s name within a month. <br /><br />Former Minister B A Jeevij- aya said that the JD(S) has been strengthened after senior Congress leader Vishwa-nath joined the party and this heralds a new era for the party in the district. Jeevijaya, under the leadership of MLA G T Devegowda, has been organising meetings to motivate party workers at the grassroot level. He has also been successful in ensuring that CMC member Leela Sheshamma and Congress leader K M B Ganesh join the JD(S). They are expected to join the party during the JD(S) convention to be held in the district. Jeevijaya lost by a narrow margin during the last election. <br /><br />After Sanket Poovaiah became the JD(S) district committee president, there were some differences of opinion within the party but after senior leader Vishwanath joined the party, party workers united.<br /><br />Congress and BJP workers from Maragodu, Shirangala, Kadagadalu, Chettalli, Suntikoppa, Besuru, Janardhanahalli and Kodlipet are keen on joining JD(S). <br /><br />As Sanketh Poovaiah has maintained a considerable distance from party activities, the JD(S) state president has directed JD(S) district in-charge V M Vijaya to take responsibility. </p>
