Planters request CM to waive interest on loans

Members of various planters’ associations met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and requested him to completely waive the interest on the loans availed by the growers from cooperative banks.

The leaders representing Karnataka Growers’ Federation and Coorg Planters’ Association also requested the chief minister to give provisions for growers in the state budget.

“The loans provided to the MSME sector by KSFC at 4% interest rates upto Rs 10 crore, should be extended to the agriculture sector as well. Relief should be provided to the growers who have suffered losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” they said.

After submitting the memorandum to the chief minister, the members of the delegation said that Yediyurappa has responded positively.

Karnataka Growers’ Federation vice president Nanda Belliyappa, secretary Krishnappa, treasurer Rajiv, organising secretary K K Vishwanath, Rathnakar, Coorg Planters’ Association president Ramanathan Nagappan and others were part of the delegation.
