Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association (KSPSTA) on Wednesday urged the state government to implement their demands on transfers and timely promotions.

KSPSTA District president Shivashankar Bhat K told reporters that the transfer process for teachers should have been completed in April 2017. But the department is postponing the process by quoting different reasons. As a result, the teachers who were eligible for transfers had been facing a lot of inconvenience.

“The graduated teachers should be given promotions on time. Also, the new pension scheme should be scrapped. Teachers should not be deployed for the duties of booth level officers during elections. The Headmasters should be provided with salary as per the recommendations of the sixth pay commission.”

He added that a memorandum will be submitted by the association members to the Chief Minister on February 16 through the respective DCs in all districts.
