With the completion of repair work of Udupi prison at Hiriyadka, as many as 67 prisoners lodged at Karwar prison were shifted back to Udupi prison under tight police security on Friday.
It may be recalled that the prisoners were shifted to Karwar and Mangaluru prison in January 2018. The undertrials of Udupi prison lodged at Mangaluru will be shifted to Udupi on Saturday and Sunday, said jail superintendent Sanjay.
The prison was renovated at a cost of Rs 65 lakh.
