Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited Chairperson Veena Acchaiah has directed the owner of a commercial outlet that was using the name ‘Cauvery Handicraft Emporium’ and its logo to change the name board.

The outlet had been opened to sell sarees and handicrafts on Race Course Road in town. The name board for the shop had titles of ‘Mysore Silk Udyog’, ‘Cauvery Handicraft Emporium’ and ‘Government of India’.

The chairperson, who visited and inspected the outlet here recently, reminded that the name of Cauvery Handicraft Emporium and its logo could not be used by private individuals and firms. “It is the official name and logo of the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation. The name board should be changed immediately.”

The Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation, in order to promote handicrafts in the State, has opened 11 outlets in Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chennai, Mangaluru and Hubballi. The 12th outlet is to be opened at the Kodava Samaja building in Madikeri on January 14.
