<p>New Delhi: Raichur <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/congress">Congress</a> Lok Sabha member G Kumar Naik on Monday urged the Centre to enhance financial grants from <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/nabard">NABARD</a> to <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/karnataka">Karnataka</a>.</p><p>As for the Short Term Agricultural Credit Limit to Karnataka is concerned, the NABARD sanctioned only Rs 2,340 crore for the current year (2024-25), against Rs 5,600 crore sanctioned in 2023-24. </p><p>Reduction in funds would hit farmers severely, Naik said in Lok Sabha during Question Hour.</p><p>"Increasing the limit is essential to enable cooperative banks to continue providing 0% interest loans, particularly to marginal farmers in arid regions. This would protect the livelihoods of 35 lakh farmers," he said.</p>.How is shouting 'Jai Sri Ram' inside mosque an offence: Supreme Court seeks Karnataka police's stand.<p>Replying to the Question, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhury said that banks in Karnataka are operating robustly and that the Government's interest subvention is helping reduce farmer's interest burden by 3% for timely repayments.</p><p><strong>Migration woes</strong></p><p>Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that people keep migrating from one place to other places depending on available employment opportunities. </p><p>People from Bidar go to Hyderabad and vice versa in search of jobs, he said while replying to Bidar Lok Sabha member Sagar Khandre. </p><p>Khandre during Question Hour said that a large number of youth from Bidar district has been migrating to other places including Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai in search of jobs. </p><p>The district was the most backward region and the Centre should take steps to create employment opportunities in Kalyana Karnataka region, he said.</p><p><strong>Enhancement of compensation</strong> </p><p>Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav assured to look into the demand of enhancement of compensation to the family of victims in wildlife attack. </p><p>During Question Hour, Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha member C N Manjunath said elephant menace has been increasing in Bengaluru rural district mostly in Bannerghatta and Sathanur areas and several people have died. </p><p>To construct barricades around forests to prevent entry of elephants to agriculture fields, the Ministry should grant financial assistance to the state under CAMP (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority) funds. </p><p>The MP also urged the Minister to increase compensation to the families of victims in wildlife attacks from existing Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.</p>
