: With the glass house seldom being used and a bigger proposal to build a skyscraper to house the Palike offices, there is land shortage within the headquarters.

The glass house was inaugurated on September 9, 2008, by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

According to sources, the BBMP political echelon is now trying to persuade the family of Rajkumar to get their approval to install the same glass house at the Kanteerava Studios.
An initial round of talks is believed to have convinced the Kannada matinee idol’s family members to shift the glass house.

The glass house constructed two years ago was expected to host events related to the BBMP and other State Government functions. But seldom has it been of use as most Government agencies and the Palike itself have never been able to organise large-scale events.

The glass house, once shifted to the studio, will be used as a rest house for people who frequent the place to visit the memorial. “We are looking to provide a rest house and tourist visiting place at the studio. It will serve a better purpose than being located in the BBMP headquarters,” informed Katte Satyanarayana, the ruling party leader in the BBMP Council.

Meanwhile, the long-stalled Palike towers, which will house the offices of the BBMP Standing Committee and others, is being planned as a skyscraper. Sources said the BBMP top officials were thinking of raising at least 20 to 25 floors of office space and several levels of parking space.

The proposal is yet to be tabled before the Palike Council for approval.
