Karnataka has bagged the e-Puraskar award of the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj for the best performance in empowering panchayats by using information and communication technology (ICT) tools.
This is the fourth consecutive year the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department has won the award, according to a statement from RDPR Minister H K Patil's office.
"Karnataka has been assessed as the top performing state in facilitating use of ICT tools for empowering the panchayats," Ministry of Panchayat Raj joint secretary Sanjeeb Patjoshi wrote in a letter to RDPR principal secretary N Nagambika Devi.
