Red Ribbon Express in Udupi from Feb 18

Deputy Commissioner Hemalatha informed at an official meeting here on Wednesday that Karnataka is one among six states where the spread of Aids is more. Creating awareness is the need of the hour since many people have misconceptions about HIV and Aids. Hence, people, especially youth, should visit the exhibition arranged inside the Red Ribbon Express to become aware on the disease, she added.

People can view the exhibition arranged in four coaches of the train without making any payment. The exhibition enlightens people with regard to health, cleanlinss, swine flu, tuberculosis other than HIV and Aids. NGOs, anganwadi workers, health workers, officials and social workers should take initiative to bring people above 15 years to the railway station to watch the exhibition, Hemalatha directed.

All buses from Udupi to Manipal should take a diversion in the route and drop passengers at the Indrali Railway Station on February 18 and 19, DC said and directed the transport authorities to take action in this regard.

ZP Chief Executive Officer Pranesh Rao, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari, Additional DC Prabhakar, RTO Ramesh, district officer for Aids Dr Ashok and planning director Dr Prakash were present.
