Counselling was held in four different sessions for candidates ranked upto 2000.
Counselling for ranks 151 to 500 was held in session one, followed by rank 501 to 1000 in session two to complete the morning session. The afternoon witnessed counselling for ranks from 1001 to 2000, once again in two different sessions.
By the end of the day, the last seat taken in the General Merit category went to Rank 1946, in Category 1, the last seat was taken by Rank 1597 and in Category 2A, the last seat went to Rank 1700. Similarly, for categories 2B, 3A, 3B, SC and ST categories, the seats went to ranks 1184, 1430, 1745, 1977 and 1846 respectively.
Counselling and re-counselling for in-service medical and dental candidates will continue on Wednesday. Re- counselling for in-service dental candidates will be held on Wednesday from 2 pm onwards.
The re-counselling comes after confusion on Monday over the ranks allotted to the candidates.
A direction by the High Court not to issue the allotment order to the in-service candidates during the first round of counselling came in handy for the varsity to defer the seat selection for dental courses by a day.
