RGUHS regional centre building to be completed by Sept 2026: Minister

Mangaluru: Medical Education Minister Dr Sharanaprakash Patil said that the construction of the regional centre building of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences will be completed by September 2026.

He inspected the construction site of the regional centre building located at Mary Hill on Tuesday and said that a Skill Lab and a Sports Hub are also being built at an estimated cost of Rs 49 crore as part of the facility.

He further said that budget provisions have been made for the construction of state-of-the-art skill labs at six locations across the state – Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Mysuru, Hubballi, Bengaluru, and Davanagere. The construction work in Davanagere and Kalaburagi has already been completed.

1,20,000 sq ft building

The regional centre building of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences being constructed at Mary Hill will have a total area of 1,20,000 square feet, consisting of six floors, including the basement and ground floor.

The basement will be used for parking. The ground floor will house the offices of the University Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Finance, and other departments. The first and second floors will have simulation-based skill labs. The fourth floor is designated for sports facilities.

Construction began three months ago. According to Dhananjay K K, Executive Engineer for the Rajiv Gandhi University Regional Office project, work is yet to begin in Bengaluru and Ramanagara.
