Rs 1.61 lakh BPL families to benefit from health insurance'

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the district-level workshop organised by district administration and labour department for gram panchayat secretaries, development officers, tahsildars and revenue department officials here recently.

Jagadish said labourers from the unorganised sector, BPL families, beedi workers and traders, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) beneficiaries, construction workers and railway hawkers would be included under the scheme.

By submitting a photograph of family members, fingerprint of the head of family and paying a fee of Rs 30, they can avail treatment at any government hospital up to a limit of Rs 30,000.

Those visiting the hospital would also receive travel allowance of Rs 1,000 per year.
Zilla panchayat chief executive officer S T Anjan Kumar and  labour department joint commissioner G T Jinkalappa   were present at the programme.
