Rs 4,078 cr credit plan launched in DK

Despite priority to agri sector, output is on decline in district

Speaking on the occasion, he said there was nearly 13 per cent hike in the outlay for the credit plan compared to last year. Though the credit plan has been giving priority to agriculture, the agriculture output is on decline in the district. There is a need to create interest in agriculture among the people.

Earlier, Syndicate Bank Deputy General Manager H S Shenoy said the total plan outlay for the year 2011-12 is Rs 4,078 crore.

The priority sector credit with an outlay of Rs 3,141 crore constitutes 77 per cent of the plan.

Out of total priority sector, agriculture sector gets a share of Rs 1,443 crore which constitutes 28 per cent of the plan. The secondary sector, namely SSI, non farm sector account for Rs 431 crore. The amount allocated to other priority sectors namely, small and road transport, business, education, housing, Self Help Group lending etc is Rs 1,267 crore. Non priority sector gets a share of Rs 937 crore which is 23 per cent of the outlay.
He said out of the total plan, commercial banks have contributed Rs 3,105 crore, followed by SCDCC Bank with Rs 870 crore. Syndicate Bank leads with a credit outlay of Rs 896 crore followed by Canara Bank with Rs 525 crore.

The banks have made allocation under the credit plan lending to different government sponsored schemes to the extent of Rs 80 crore.

A sum of Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), Rs 10 crore for Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Rs 2 crore for Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) and Rs 50 crore for other schemes, he informed.  

RBI Manager M S Hasan said the growth in the country should be inclusive. There is a need to generate credit. Syndicate Bank Lead Bank Manager Udaykumar Holla, Nabard AGM Prasad Rao and others were present.
