'Sasihitlu to be model fishing village'

According to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the College of Fisheries in Mangalore and the Haleangadi Gram Panchayat, the College has adopted the village with an aim of training the fishermen here in following the best fishing practices.

The college, in association with Karnataka Veterinary and Fisheries Sciences University (KVFSU) in Bidar will work closely with women’s self help groups as well as the fishing community to transform the village into a model fishing village. The people will be taught on how to increase their profits by converting low cost fish into processed food and also in hygienic fish handling practices. The people will also be trained in breeding ornamental fish.
