Shoddy construction of building by Public Works Department

The first floor of the court which is being constructed by Public Works Department is meant to house rooms for Fast Track Court, an auditorium and other rooms. The construction began around eight months ago and there were cries of substandard work right from the beginning.

A portion of the roof came down crumbling when the Quality Maintenance Division officials pierced a instrument into the roof. The officials also took notice of cracks which have developed in many walls, poor quality doors and other defects in the building.

Rains
The recent rains in the district wrecked havoc as rain water stagnated in the building. The stagnated water lead to seepage and short circuit in the rooms in ground floor, said lawyers and other court staff told the officials.

The substandard construction of the building is overtly visible. The Public Works Department should take strict action against the officers and contractors who were responsible for the poor construction, said Rajgopal Gowda, former president of  Advocates Association.
