Special officer to Karnataka DCM accuses CM’s aide of shoe attack

Averbal altercation between the special officers of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, at the Karnataka Bhavan on Friday, escalated into serious allegations of assault with H Anjaneya, a special officer to DCM accusing C Mohan Kumar, assistant resident commissioner and special officer to CM, of attacking him with a shoe.

Anjaneya, who is also Deputy Liaison officer, on July 22 filed a formal complaint with Resident Commissioner Imkongla Jamir, demanding criminal proceedings against Kumar.

“I was beaten with a shoe and it has hurt my honour and dignity. Conduct a criminal trial against him (Kumar)
and give me justice,” Anjaneya said in his complaint, which was marked to Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar and Chief Secretary Shalini
Rajneesh.

Confirming the receipt of the complaint Jamir said that  “We have received the complaint. Due process will be followed.”

In his detailed complaint, Anjaneya, a Group-B officer, alleged that Kumar has been systematically preventing him from discharging his duties. “He threatened to hit me with a shoe in the chamber of the office in front of everyone,” he wrote.

The complainant also expressed concern about his safety while performing duties as special officer to the deputy chief minister.  “If any accident happens, Kumar will be responsible,” Anjaneya warned in his letter. 

Anjaneya said he had previously sought a transfer from the Karnataka Bhavan to avoid such conflicts while serving as special officer to the deputy chief minister.

Mohan Kumar told DH that there were several complaints against Anjaneya of misbehaving with several staff, particularly women.

Some of the women have approached the State Women Commission against him. “As an Assistant Resident
Commissioner, I have questioned Anjaneya. Upset with this, he lodged a false complaint against me,” Kumar said.

Meanwhile, a group of Karnataka Bhavan employees including one woman met the chief minister here and lodged a complaint against Anjaneya. Siddaramaiah said that some of the staff members met him and submitted a petition. Appropriate action would be taken, he said.
