The government is planning to defer commencement of annual general transfer of its employees by a month in view of severe drought.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda is learnt to have told his colleagues in the Cabinet meeting on Thursday that it would be in the interest of the State to defer the transfer of officials by a month. The plan is to commence the annual transfer process from May 1 and complete it in 15 days.

Usually, the government takes up the transfer process in April first week and it goes on for two months. Request for transfer of employees, excluding teachers, doctors and police, will be considered during the process.

The chief minister is learnt to have said transferring of officials would affect drought relief works. It would divert the attention of the officials. But, the government has not taken the final decision in this regard.
