<p>Mysuru: Chief Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/siddaramaiah">Siddaramaiah</a> said that the State government has all the powers to rename Ramanagar as Bengaluru South district.</p><p>He was speaking to media persons, during his visit to K R Nagar, to launch various development projects in Mysuru district.</p><p>Reacting to Union Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/h-d-kumaraswamy">H D Kumaraswamy’s</a> criticisms that the history of the district was being distorted by renaming Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South, Siddaramaiah said, “The decision was taken only after consulting the people and seeking their opinion”. </p><p>He also questioned whether Kumaraswamy had not thought about the history while creating Ramanagara district.</p>.Centre trying to destabilise elected government: Karnataka CM Siddaramiah.<p><strong>ED and IT raids </strong></p><p>Commenting on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid, the CM said, “I will not oppose the ED or IT probe detecting black money transactions. But, it should not be politically motivated. The ED raid on Home Minister G Parameshwar’s educational institution is politically motivated.”</p><p>To a query about the Supreme Court’s observation that the Enforcement Directorate has been crossing its limits, the CM said it will be known only after examining on which case the observation was made.” </p><p><strong>Rising cases of sexual assault</strong> </p><p>When asked about rising sexual assault cases in the State, Siddaramaiah said, “Stern action is being taken against the criminals. But the number of crimes has come down in the state in the last one year, when compared to the BJP’s regime. Our government will definitely try to reduce the crime cases significantly, he said.</p><p>On the rising Covid-19 cases in Singapore and Hong Kong, and no steps being taken by the Union government on monitoring those returning from abroad, Siddaramaiah said, with Covid cases rising, the Centre should take precautionary measures and decisions to prevent any spread.</p><p>When asked about the charge sheet filed against Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and former MP D K Suresh on donating to Young India organisation, he said, “It is not wrong to give donation to any organisation”.</p>
