Status quo on home for slum dwellers

The matter pertained to an appeal filed by the Bovi community which argued that the residences were being built on land allotted to the Bovi community in 1960. The plot measuring 208 x 208ft was allotted to the community in 1960 and a community office was also functioning on the premises. But the Deputy Commissioner later identified this plot for the construction of houses for slum dwellers under JNNURM.
A single bench had earlier upheld the order by Mysore Deputy Commissioner . The petitioners alleged that no prior notice was given nor their objections heard. A division bench constituting Justice Ramamohan Reddy and L Narayanaswamy have adjourned the hearing.
