Handbook on crimes against SC/STs

The department of social welfare has come out with a ready-reckoner to help police deal better with crimes against SC/STs.

The department has prepared a handbook detailing all sections under the Prevention of Atrocities Act.

Launching the handbook, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said it would help in removing the confusions regarding inclusion of the appropriate sections while filing first information reports (FIRs), in cases pertaining to atrocities on SC/STs.
