Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said he has advised Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy not to repeatedly talk about resigning from office.

Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara said, “We (Congress) are giving him full cooperation. He has a free hand to run the government. We have no problems with him and he too should reciprocate accordingly.”

On Monday, Kumaraswamy had threatened to resign after Congress legislators, including Cabinet ministers MTB Nagaraju and C Puttarangashetty, hailed Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah as their chief minister.

Parameshwara said that a joint meeting of Congress and JD(S) legislators will be convened either on February 6 or 7 ahead of the presentation of budget proposals. “The chief minister too will be present and the meeting can serve as a platform to discuss all issues,” he said.

Kumaraswamy, who also holds the finance portfolio, is scheduled to present the budget proposals for 2019-20 on February 8.
