Trial begins in Bhaskar Shetty murder case

The District and Sessions Court began the trial of the murder of hotelier Bhaskar Shetty in Udupi on Monday.

Gulabi Shetty, who is the witness and mother of Bhaskar Shetty, deposed before the court.

The court was adjourned and the cross-examination of Gulabi Shetty will be held on Tuesday.

Public prosecutor Shanthibai told DH that the case was adjourned as the accused’s counsellor pleaded for time and extension of date, she added.

The former Manipal CPI Girish will also be examined on Tuesday.

Bhaskar Shetty was murdered on July 28, 2016 and his body was burnt in a ‘homa kunda’.
