He demanded that the district administration award suitable compensation to the victims’ relatives.

Addressing mediapersons, Puttannaiah said among the 31 victims, 10 lost their valuables estimated at Rs 12 lakh. The perpetrators made off with the booty under the nose of the police and other officers, including Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta who were present at the spot, he said.

‘Tender apology’

He also sought an apology from Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for not visiting Aralukuppe in Mandya district, the native of most victims. Stating that the police used force on innocent villagers of Kadakola and surrounding places, who were demanding better roads in the aftermath of the mishap, Puttannaiah urged the government to withdraw cases registered against the
protesters.
