<p>Veteran Kannada film actor R N Sudarshan (78) passed away here on Friday due to multiple organ failure.<br /><br />Sudarshan’s condition suddenly deteriorated on Thursday night. He failed to respond to the treatment and breathed his last around 1.12 pm on Friday. He is survived by wife Shylashree, also an actor.<br /><br />He was admitted to Sagar Hospital in Tilak Nagar after he slipped and fell in his bathroom on September 4, sustaining an injury.<br /><br />Born on May 2, 1939, Rattihalli Nagendra Rao Sudarshan acted in over 250 films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi in his illustrious career spanning over three decades.<br /><br />He made it to the big screen at the age of 21 with Vijayanagarada Veeraputra (1961). He acted in lead roles in over 60 films and went on play the role of villain in many movies. He also acted in a tele serial (Agnisakshi), besides appearing in other TV soaps.<br /><br />He was one of the villains in Nayagan directed by Manirathnam, while he co-starred with his wife Shylashree in the films, Naguva Hoovu, Kadina Rahasya, Kallara Kalla and Malathi Madhava. Zoom was his last Kannada movie.<br /><br />Sudarshan lent his voice to a few songs as well. He is known for his song, ‘Hovondhu Bali Bandu Takaitu Nannedeya...’, (Shubamangala) which is considered as one of the classics.<br /><br />He is remembered even today for his role of a ‘tantrik’ in the film Prachanda Kulla.<br /><br />Sudarshan was the fourth son of the late R Nagendra Rao, one of the founding fathers of the Kannada film industry. Sudarshan’s siblings, R N Jayagopal was a popular lyricist and film director, while R N K Prasad, a popular cinematographer.<br /><br />Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairperson Rajendra Singh Babu were among those who condoled the actor’s demise. Sudarshan’s funeral took place at Harischandra Ghat at Rajajinagar on Friday evening.</p>
