<p> The webcast of the Dasara procession and Torch Light Parade is failing to attract more online viewers.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Compared to 2013, the webcast viewership has fallen by 15 per cent. Website developers on the other hand feel that the viewership numbers do not reflect the actual traffic attracted by the website. Additional online features introduced during Dasara have helped ‘Nada Habba’ reach more people, they say.<br /><br />Like last year, the website attracted audience from more than 25 countries across the globe, during the ten day festival. The website also attracted the most number of hits on October 4, Jamboo Savari day with 1,12,232 visitors.<br /><br />Despite the dip in webcast viewership, website developers said that the number of hits for the website has grown when compared to last year. According to Kantharaj C, Chief Executive Officer of DotAngle, which developed the website, traffic for the website saw a marked increase. <br /><br />“The website had attracted 11.2 million hits during Dasara 2013. This year, we have had 13.4 million hits,” he said. Maintaining that the webcast viewership had shown “not much of a decline”, he said that hits indicate more interaction by tourists. In 2013, a total of 98,191 people had watched the live streaming of Dasara procession and Torch Light Parade online. In 2014, the number fell to 83,611. About 62,398 people viewed the Dasara procession and 21,213 watched the Torch light Parade. <br /><br />While Dasara updates were provided on Facebook and Twitter last year, this year, updates were also provided through WhatsApp. According to DotAngle, 11,219 users received regular Dasara updates on WhatsApp. “Considering the feedback we have received, more than 90 pc of the people were happy with the services,” he said. The Dasara android App which was launched this year, was installed by 3,298 users.<br /></p>
