Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday stressed the need for the BJP workers to work extremely hard to ensure a second term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at interaction programmes at Vidyaranyapura and Jayanagar, she called upon the BJP workers not to leave any stone unturned to ensure BJP’s victory in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“The BJP workers should not take the 2019 Lok Sabha elections lightly. The forthcoming general elections are totally different compared to the 2014 elections. Many elements have come together to build an anti-Modi campaign, which should be tackled effectively,”she said.

“Compared to the previous elections, our activists should work 10 times more in the next few weeks. We are absolutely confident that we will win. The BJP should win more than 272 seats and come to power on its own as compulsions of alliance politics will hamper the development process,” she said.

“Those who had spoiled the country’s economic system have come together. The opposition leaders haven’t been able to find a single case of corruption against Modi. Hence, they are terming his administration as suit-boot government,” she said.

Nirmala said: “Youngsters in India trust in Modi and the trust should be retained. Ensuring the victory of a BJP candidate means ensuring Modi’s victory. The country will move in reverse direction for 50 years if Modi isn’t voted back to power,” she said.

“For the first time, we have a strong leader whose vision has transformed India,” she said.

“Don’t stay away from politics due to dirty political game by a few leaders. Modi has a washing machine to clean the dirty political game. Ensure registration of senior citizens and first-time voters and keep the voters’ list ready,” she said.

She termed AICC President Rahul Gandhi’s claims on Rafale Deal as ‘abuse of human intelligence’ and advised the party workers to expose him thoroughly.

“You need to inform people how some children are pretending to be adults,” she said, without taking his name.
