<p>New Delhi: Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar met Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi and urged him to consider establishing a memorial for Dasara elephant Arjuna at the LIC Circle in Bannimantap at Mysuru, and a yoga museum in the old Deputy Commissioner’s office.</p><p>In his memorandum to the Minister on Wednesday, the MP said there is a special bond between Mysuru and Dasara elephants. </p><p>Arjuna was the beloved elephant and had attracted everybody by its majesty. It carried the golden howdah with the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari seated on it for many years. In memory of the majestic elephant, it is necessary to build a memorial in Mysuru. The memorial can be developed jointly by the Centre and the State, he suggested.</p>.‘Mysuru through ages’ museum at old DC office to be cultural capital’s new cynosure.<p>The MP said he requested the minister to set up a yoga museum at the old Deputy Commissioner’s office. "If a museum was set up, it would help people get information on ancient art besides its importance," the MP said. </p><p>"The Centre must advise the State government to consider developing a yoga museum to emphasise the importance of yoga and its benefits on health besides spreading its popularity. This will also help develop tourism," the MP said. </p><p>Arjuna was carried golden howdah during the Mysuru Dasara procession for many years. Even though he was retired from carrying the howdah, he was continue to be part of the Dasara celebrations. </p><p>The forest department engaged Arjuna to capture a wild elephant that had been troubling several villages, in Hassan in December 2023. He died in following injuries during a fight with a wild elephant during operation. </p>
