<p>Bengaluru: The self-declaration period under the Yuva Nidhi scheme has been extended from existing one month to three months, Skill Development Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil announced in the Legislative Council on Monday.</p>.<p>He was replying to a question raised by BJP MLC D S Arun.</p>.<p>“As per existing norms, beneficiaries have to submit self-declaration and 32,594 candidates have not responded to the SMS sent regarding self-declaration. Considering this, from this month itself we are extending the self-declaration period to three months,” the minister said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Under the existing norms, beneficiaries have to submit self-declaration every month. If they joined higher education or got employment, they must submit it in the portal, the minister added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Patil also assured the House that there was no question of discontinuing the Yuva Nidhi scheme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“There is no target in this scheme. Our target is unlimited, only thing is they must enrol. Till date, 2,62,207 graduates have enrolled and in next 2-3 years, we have a target to enrol 10 lakh graduates. There is no question of discontinuing the scheme, instead we are creating awareness at the college level for enrolment. This is our commitment to the House and we stand by our words,” the minister said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Arun also raised the issue of delay in announcing results and distribution of marks cards, preventing the eligible from enrolling.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Responding to this, the minister said, “The graduates don’t need to submit marks card or wait for it as the same will be directly accessed from National Academic Depository. As soon as the results are announced they can enrol.” </p>
