Serial killing suspicion in Kerala strengthens as more human remains recovered

Police sources said that DNA test results of the remains recovered from the house would be crucial in identifying the accused's involvement in the suspected serial killings.

Thiruvananthapuram: The suspicion of a serial killing at Alappuzha in Kerala strengthened further on Monday as more human remains were reportedly recovered from the house of the accused.

As per reports, around 20 body parts were recovered from premises of the house of Sebastian at Pallippuram in Alappuzha. The police carried out an extensive search in the vast premises of the house using cadaver dogs. A pond and marshy land in the property were making the search more tedious. A tiled floor in the house was also dug following suspicions.

The police crime branch team probing the case took Sebastian to the spot. Though he admitted that he knew the women who were suspected to be murdered, he did not admit murdering them, said sources.

It was a probe into the disappearance of one Jainamma, hailing from Ettumanoor in Kottayam district, in December 2024 that led to the arrest of Sebastian. Subsequently, the probe into the disappearance of two other women several years ago was reopened as Sebastian had links with them and was earlier quizzed. His involvement in the disappearance of another woman from Alappuzha was also suspected.

Police sources said that DNA test results of the remains recovered from the house would be crucial in identifying his involvement in the suspected serial killings. He was suspected to be targeting middle-aged women who were in vulnerable situations.
