Former Malegaon mayor injured after 2 unidentified persons fire at him in Nashik

The incident occurred in the Malegaon city area off the Mumbai-Agra Highway. Malik has suffered three gunshot wounds in chest, left thigh, and right hand.

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, Abdul Malik Mohammed Yunus Isa, a leader of Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party at Malegaon in the Nashik district of Maharashtra.

Malik is a former Mayor of Malegaon and the city head of the AIMIM.

The incident occurred in the Malegaon city area off the Mumbai-Agra Highway. Malik has suffered three gunshot wounds in chest, left thigh, and right hand.

Malik has been shifted to Nashik city for further treatment. The incident took place past midnight at 01:00 am.

According to reports, two people on a motorbike opened fire and fled the scene.

An FIR has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections including 307 (attempt to murder).

No arrests have been made so far.

Meanwhile, Owaisi urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Director General of Police to take necessary action.

"AIMIM Malegaon President and former mayor Abdul Malik was shot thrice last night. He has been taken to Nashik for treatment. I spoke to his brother Dr. Khalid on the phone. We stand firmly with Abdul Malik’s family. This is a conspiracy and the murderers should be arrested as soon as possible,” he said.
