<p>Mumbai: In a development that could spark a political row, CM <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/devendra-fadnavis">Devendra Fadnavis</a>-headed MahaYuti-<a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/nda">NDA</a> government on Thursday accorded approval for opening accounts for the disbursal of salaries and allowances of government employees at the Mumbai District Central Cooperative (MDCC) Bank Ltd, controlled by BJP legislator Pravin Darekar.</p><p>The MDCC Bank is popularly known as Mumbai Bank. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting presided over by Fadnavis.</p><p>Darekar, who is the Chairman of the MDCC Bank is considered close to Fadnavis. A former MLA, Darekar now is an MLC. </p><p>The government also allowed state-run public sector undertakings (PSUs) to use the MDCC Bank for making their deposits.</p><p>Earlier, the Cabinet had approved a proposal to allot land in Mumbai to the MDCC Bank for the construction of a training centre for the cooperative sector.</p>.Banks to provide beneficiary account name look-up facility in NEFT, RTGS by Apr 1.<p>The meeting also approved the authorisation of the MDCC Bank to open personal bank accounts of pensioners and to invest additional funds from government public undertakings and corporations.</p><p>During the meeting, the idea of ‘e-cabinet’ was also discussed on the lines of ‘e-office’. The drafts of proposals to be placed before the cabinet will be provided on tablets, so that the use of paper is curbed.</p><p>Fadnavis also decided to bring all the social development corporations in the state on one IT platform, which would achieve the objective of ‘ease of living’. </p><p>To finalise this, a four-member committee has been formed which include Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development Department, Aseem Gupta, Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department, Vikas Rastogi, Secretary of Rural Development Department, Vijay Waghmare and Pune Divisional Commissioner, Chandrakant Pulkundwar. </p>
