<p>Mumbai: In a significant development in Maharashtra amid talks of a possible merger of NCP and NCP (SP), state Congress President Harshavadhan Sapkal met veteran politician Sharad Pawar - even as the latter’s state unit met party leaders to discuss the emerging political situation. </p><p>The Congress, Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) and the Uddhav Thackeray-headed Shiv Sena (UBT) are part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi-INDIA opposition bloc. </p><p>While there is talks of NCP (SP) leaders wanting for merging with Ajit Pawar-led NCP, which new commands the real party after dislodging Sharad Pawar, there is also talks of Shiv Sena (UBT) planning to forge an alliance with Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. </p>.As Uddhav Thackeray-Raj Thackeray talk unity, action yet to follow words.<p>Sapkal said that he merely paid a courtesy visit to Sharad Pawar whom he had not met since taking over as the state Congress chief in February.</p><p>“Pawar is a senior leader with over 50 years’ experience in political and social fields. It was a courtesy call only,” Sapkal told reporters.</p><p>Sakpal also launched a major attack on ruling BJP-led MahaYuti-NDA.</p>.<p>Meanwhile, in a related development, NCP (SP) state executive meeting was held presided over by state unit chief Jayant Patil.</p><p>“The meeting witnessed an overwhelming response, with senior party leaders, office-bearers from across Maharashtra participating in large numbers, reflecting the renewed energy and unity within the organisation. The meeting was to chalk out a comprehensive roadmap for the party’s future initiatives and electoral strategy,” said NCP (SP) chief spokesperson Jayant Patil.</p><p>“Today’s meeting was a reaffirmation of our commitment to the people of Maharashtra. Under the leadership of Sharad Pawar Saheb and Jayant Patil, the NCP (SP) is determined to emerge stronger, more united, and deeply connected with the issues of the common man. We are prepared to take the fight to the streets and ensure justice, development, and democratic accountability prevail in the state,” said Tapase. </p><p>Patil also hinted at fresh appointments and restructuring if needed aimed at energising the cadre and making the party more agile and responsive.</p><p>Patil laid out the party’s immediate priorities, emphasizing robust preparedness for the upcoming local self-government elections. </p><p>He urged all district and taluka-level units to gear up at the grassroots level and strengthen booth-wise machinery to ensure electoral success.</p>
