Mumbai boat tragedy: Search continues for man, missing boy

Mumbai: A multi-agency search and rescue (S&R) is continuing along the Mumbai-Raigad coast in search of two persons who are still reported missing after Wednesday's boat tragedy off the financial capital of Mumbai.

The Indian Coast Guard said on Thursday morning that two people are still missing.

These include an adult male and a male child.

The ships and aircraft of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard are involved in the S&R operations.

A total of 13 people have died in the accident after a Indian Navy speed boat hit a ferry board while it was on way from Gateway of India to the Gharapuri Island, which houses the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Elephanta Caves.

According to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, 101 persons have been rescued.

Meanwhile, an FIR under CR No 283/24 under sections 106(1), 125 (a) (b), 282, 324 (3)(5) of BNS has been registered in Colaba police station in relation to incident of Neelkamal boat capsizing against Navy speed boat driver and responsible others, on the complaint of survivor Natharam Chaudhary.

Fadnavis has announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh from the PMNRF to the next of kin of the deceased.
