<p>Mumbai: In a gesture of becoming a Good Samaritan, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur, has volunteered to treat an elderly woman cancer patient, who was found abandoned by her family in the Aarey Colony area of Mumbai. </p><p>The Mumbai Police found the woman, who is in her sixties, in a very weak condition near a garbage dump on the road in Aarey Milk Colony. Upon investigation, the woman informed the police that her grandson had left her there.</p><p>She was admitted to Cooper Hospital after several other hospitals denied her admittance, given her condition. The lady suffers from suspected skin cancer.</p>.US approves AstraZeneca, Daiichi's treatment for lung cancer.<p>NCI general secretary and CEO, Shailesh Joglekar, said he got to know about the hapless woman through media reports. </p><p>NCI got in touch with one of the editors and sought details of the cancer patient and expressed its desire to treat her at NCI’s Nagpur facility.</p><p>“When I learnt about it, I thought we could help the distressed woman. I called up one of the editors in Mumbai to know more about the ailing woman, and said that, if permitted, the NCI would bring the woman here in Nagpur for treatment. NCI will ensure the patient's complete cancer care,” said Joglekar, the General Secretary of Dr Aabaji Thatte Sewa Aur Anusandhan Sanstha, a charitable trust that runs NCI.</p>
