<p>Mumbai: A day after the communal flare up in Yavat village in the Daund tehsil in Pune emerged that “outsiders” have fomented communal passions to create trouble and disturb peace.</p><p>Tight vigil is being maintained in and around the village with strong police presence even as police teams used drones to maintain aerial surveillance over the village. </p><p>Teams of Pune Rural police and the State Reserve Police Force will continue to maintain tight security arrangements over the next few days. </p><p>Top politicians, district administration and police officials are in touch with community leaders to ensure that nothing goes wrong. </p><p>The village had tension since July 26 after a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj desecrated. What added fuel to the fire was an August 1 post by a youth which mentioned about a Hindu priest raping someone in Madhya Pradesh. Daund taluka is a very good region, home to hardworking people. People from all communities live together in harmony. I have personal and family ties to that place. It is deeply saddening that outsiders are coming in and spreading such unrest in our area. this is not right,” Baramati’s NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule said. </p><p>Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi founder-president Prakash Ambedkar said, “Police informed me that four days ago, a person tried to tamper with a statue of Shivaji Maharaj. As soon as people found out, they rushed to the spot, and the individual went into hiding. He was later taken into custody by the police, and action was taken. A peace meeting was held between Hindu and Muslim communities. However, a social media post by a Muslim youth triggered tensions.”</p>
