Shiv Sena (UBT) asks PM Modi to intervene, talk to state CMs over Maharashtra-Karnataka bus dispute

Meanwhile, state Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, who is from the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, said that the services from Maharashtra end would be restarted after the situation normalises.

Mumbai: As the Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary dispute flared up again, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) called for intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and hold a meeting with the CMs of the two States - Devendra Fadnavis and Siddaramaiah to prevent incidents like the one in Belagavi.

Meanwhile, state Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, who is from the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, said that the services from the Maharashtra end would be restarted after the situation normalises.

“Considering the safety of passengers and our employees, the MSRTC has been directed to cancel ST bus services from the Kolhapur division to Karnataka until further notice. Until the Karnataka government takes a clear stance and engages in discussions with our administration, ST bus services from Maharashtra to that region of Karnataka will remain suspended,” he said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut called for the intervention of Modi and Shah.

“We do not want such incidents to take place. The PM and Home Minister should call for a meeting with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The Belagavi border dispute is in the Supreme Court. Even then how the Karnataka government is doing these activities is not right. The matter is sub-judice” he said.
