<p class="bodytext">The process of claims and objections to the draft National Register of Citizens in Assam will start from August 30 and continue till September 30.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said the process could also be extended by another month if required.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The decision to start the process after a month was taken to ensure that people who do not find their names in the list can gather documents in the next one month and prepare to approach authorities.</p>.<p class="bodytext">No coercive action will be taken against anyone till a tribunal takes a call, officials said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The officials assured that no person who does not find his name in the NRC will be considered a foreigner. Such such powers are vested only with tribunals where one can approach for remedies.</p>
