Now, BJP MLA Ram Kadam wants photo of PM Narendra Modi on currency notes

Kadam, justifying his demand, said that over the last several years Modi has been serving the country

After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called for images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on Indian currency notes, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Maharashtra Ram Kadam said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo should be used on the currency.

The allied Opposition, reacting sharply to Kadam’s comment, said BJP needed to concentrate on controlling inflation and spiralling price rise, rather than focusing on what images need to be used in currency.

Kadam, a spokesperson of the BJP and an MLA from Mumbai, had tweeted images of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, freedom fighter V D Savarkar, and the chief architect of Constitution Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Modi on what resembled currency notes.

He captioned the image as: “Akhand Bharat, Naya Bharat, Mahan Bharat. Jai Shri Ram. Jai Mata Di."

"Their pictures will inspire crores of people of the country, no one can deny this," Kadam tweeted in Hindi.

Son of Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane MLA Nitesh Rane, too, tweeted images of Shivaji Maharaj on what resembles currency notes.

“This is my feelings and sentiments as common person... as Shiv-premi,” Nitesh Rane had posted.

Kadam, on the other hand, justifying his demand, said that over the last several years Modi has been serving the country. “Modi ji working on a mission to make India a vishwaguru...a currency note with his photo would be honouring him and his commitment," Kadam said.
