The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Tuesday petitioned the Election Commission of India to initiate an enquiry against the DMK and the PWF in Tamil Nadu.

The enquiry is against DMK president M Karunanidhi, treasurer M K Stalin, DMDK founder Vijayakanth, and People’s Welfare Front (PWF) convener Vaiko, saying that they had committed offences under Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, PMK president G K Mani said there were reports in a section of the media that “some bargaining had taken place between the DMK and DMDK” in the run up to the Assembly election.

The PMK said the DMK had slapped a legal notice on Vaiko for levelling certain charges insinuating that the party had tried to lure the DMDK into an alliance through dubious means.
