They were released last night.

The six activists of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) -- Vimal Tomar, Pankaj Mishra, Vimal Rajoria, Shashiranjan Akela, Hemant Dubey and Sudhir Yadav -- were facing murder charges under various sections of IPC.

They were accused of allegedly beating to death political science lecturer Prof Sabharwal on Aug 26, 2006 in Madhav College.
The trials were conducted in Ujjain and later shifted to a special court here as per a Supreme Court direction.
The case was transferred to Maharashtra on a petition filed by son of the late professor -- Himanshu.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Nitin Dalvi acquitted the six accused of the charges. Accordingly after completion of formalities, the authorities released them.
