Surat diamond industry hit by shortage of rough diamonds due to Russia-Ukraine War

As a result of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War, India's diamond polishing hub Surat has lost its sheen. The prolonged violence has had an impact on the supply of rough diamonds to Gujarat's diamond polishing sector. Major diamond factories in Surat have reduced the working week from three to four days. Several small factories in Surat have been closed for the time being.
