Uttar Pradesh BJP leader seeks ban on 'The Taj Story', says film based on his petition in Allahabad HC

Lucknow: An Uttar Pradesh BJP leader has sought ban on Paresh Rawal starrer film The Taj Story claiming that it was based on the writ petition filed by him in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.

BJP leader from Ayodhya, Rajnish Singh has also lodged a complaint with the ministry of Information & Broadcasting and also the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in this regard.

Singh had filed a petition in the HC in 2022 in which he had sought the court's directive to the ASI, which looks after the Taj Mahal, to open the 22 doors inside the monument, which he contended , remain closed. Singh also claimed in his petition that Taj Mahal was originally a Temple.

The petitioner had also sought formation of a Committee of the ASI to ascertain the truth behind his claim. The court had, however, dismissed his petition.

''I had filed a PIL to get the 22 closed doors of Taj Mahal opened. My intention was to ensure transparency and verify the historical facts,'' Singh said in his complaint.

He also claimed that the posters, ad materials and the judicial subjects and reference to his petition were used without his permission, which was a violation of his intellectual and legal rights. "Commercial use of a judicial matter is also improper," he said.

Singh said that such films could incite social and religious emotions besides influencing the judicial process and sought an inquiry into the story and plot of the movie. He said that the film should be banned until completion of the inquiry.
