Wedding planning goes hi-tech in AP

In an effort to create a well-trained pool of professional talent to meet the growing demands of event management and wedding planning, Hyderabad based Rachanoutsav Events Academy (REA) signed up with the Leeds Metropolitan University of UK here on Thursday to develop course curriculum and international knowledge network.

The industry is expected to cross the Rs 5000 crore mark by 2015. Under the linkage, Rachanoutsav would offer  Basic foundation as well as advanced Masters courses in Event Management, Sports Events Management and Advanced Masters course in Wedding Planning at its campus here.

Addressing press Rakhi Kankaria, Founder Director REA said: “The demand for planning of Indian style wedding and abroad in NRI sector is such that the initial monthly salary is around Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 at the entry level and a turnover of Rs Rs 10 to 15 lakhs if someone chooses to set up own event management firm.”

Explaining the role of Leeds Metropolitan University, Andrew Disbury, Director International Office, said: “Our campus with a strength of 30,000 students enrolled in various disciplines including event management trains sports event management at the famous Headingley Stadium.” He added that wedding planning imparts the knowledge of theory and provides skills to manage efficiently while, keeping the traditions intact.
