Last Updated 28 November 2018, 18:07 IST

In comparison with the Constitution of the US, the Indian Constitutional ethos are stronger and have undergone more amendments, Karnataka High Court judge Justice Krishna Shripad Dixit has said.

He was speaking at the Constitution Day programme organised by MRPL on the theme ‘Legal Awareness for Empowering Business and Service’.

“Our country is known for tolerance, which is why many religious leaders came to India since ancient times. With knowledge, we can bring honour to our Constitution,” said Justice Dixit, recollecting the contributions made by B N Rao, a Mangalurean, who was advisor to the Constituent Assembly.

Kadlur Satyanarayanacharya, Dakshina Kannada principal district and session judge, reminded that the Indian Constitution begins with the words, “We, the people of India”.

“So, we have given ourselves this Constitution and we follow and obey our Constitution. We salute all the great personalities of our country who contributed to make this great Constitution,” he added.

M Venkatesh, MRPL managing director, said that the Judiciary can strike down any incorrect decision made by the government. “That is the beauty of our Constitution,” he opined.

It is also the Judiciary that comes to our rescue when things go against us, he added.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions conducted on the lines of the Constitution Day.

Group General Manager (HR) B H V Prasad and GM (Law) AL Rafeeq Moideen were present.
